My reading list grows exponentially. Everytime I read a book, it'll mention three other books I feel I have to read. It's like a particularly relentless series of pop-up ads.

Writing Funk Of Epic Proportions

I'm in a funk. A bad one. I can't write. The words aren't coming to me naturally and my creativity has been squashed.

This is my last week of summer and I didn't get near as much writing as I hoped to get done, but as I recall, I promised not to make any writing goals.

The Writing Slime has returned. And I am suffocating. Someone, please pull me out of it.

I know it's the last week of summer, but giving yourself permission to take a step back and not work on anything can be very refreshing. I find that when I try too hard to write I just put myself deeper into the mire and nothing of quality comes out. But if I tell myself "I'm not allowed to write for three days", by the next afternoon I'm chomping at the bit to get back to it.

Good luck! I hope you can get yourself de-slime-ified.

Oh, the SLIIIIME!

I have a sadistic muse, too. She fills me with hope, then sucks it all out of me, leaving nothing but slime. I just deleted 84 pages from my WiP, when was on the last friggin' chapter. But all that deleting made my muse very happy and the words are starting to come back.

Good luck trudging through your slime! And hope you get it figured out soon!

When you figure out how to pull yourself out of it, please let me know! :)

Relax - your brain probably just needs a break - it'll be filtering stuff in your subconscious while you're ignoring it.

Take a break, read some good books, have fun and don't worry! It'll return :)

I have just what you need! My High Drama Blogfest. Easy peasy. All you need is 500 words and I can even provide you with a prompt if you like. Write something totally new...off the top of your head...with as much tension as you can muster. Are you game?

I always take a break and read a good book for a couple of days. It works like magic! Good luck!
